Ceramic Dinnerware

Production Timeline

  • Custom ceramics require a minimum of 45 days from design approval to completion.

  • Hand-built or large-scale items may take 50–70 days due to additional drying time, complex construction, and multi-stage firing.

  • Timelines may shift slightly due to variables like humidity, kiln schedules, and glaze results.

  • When placing an order, I’ll provide you with an estimated delivery window, with a latest delivery date included in your invoice.

Custom ceramic work cannot be rushed, as proper drying and firing times are essential to avoid cracking or glaze defects.

Glaze & Surface Variations

  • I offer a curated selection of glaze samples to guide your choices.

  • Please note: each glaze will vary in tone, texture, and finish, especially when applied to different clay bodies or forms.

  • Minor variations in color and feel are considered part of the handmade aesthetic and are not considered flaws.

Shrinkage & Scale

  • Most clay bodies shrink approximately 11% during the drying and firing process.

  • While I strive to create pieces true to your requested size, minor dimensional differences may occur. These variations are typical in handmade pottery.

Design & Sketch Process

  • For sculptural or large scale pieces, the design phase includes a digital or hand-drawn sketch, which must be approved before production begins. This excludes dinner wear which will be created as per my standard collection.

  • Please provide clear descriptions, use cases, and any reference photos that help express your vision.

  • Once sketches are approved, no further changes can be made without adjusting the timeline and possibly the price.

Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ)

To optimize kiln load and studio workflow, the following minimums apply:

  • Cups/Mugs: Minimum set of 4 pieces

  • Small Bowls: Minimum set of 4 pieces

  • Large Bowls: Minimum 1 (plus surcharge)

  • Plates: Minimum set of 4 pieces

  • Hand-Built or Sculptural Pieces: Subject to design complexity and may require additional time and consultation.

Materials & Durability

  • I work with mid-fire stoneware clays, specifically reclaimed studio clay and Laguna B-Mix — both chosen for their strength, food safety, and smooth texture.

  • All pieces are lead-free, microwave-safe, and food-safe, unless otherwise specified.

In the Rare Event of Damage:

  • If your item arrives damaged in transit, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery. Include your order number and clear photos of the packaging and item. We will work with you to assess the damage and determine a solution, which may include a refund or partial remake.

Please note:

  • Glaze and surface variations, slight dimensional differences, and small imperfections are normal in handmade pottery and are not considered defects.

  • We do not offer replacements or refunds for these natural variations.

  • By placing a custom order, you confirm that you have reviewed and agree to these terms.

Payment & Deposits

  • Full payment is required at the time of order confirmation to begin sourcing materials and reserving kiln space.

  • This payment is non-refundable once production has begun, as all pieces are made-to-order and cannot be resold.

  • I am committed to offering a fulfilling service experience for all clients. If any issue may arise, we will be in direct contact to discuss a solution.

Delivery and Pickup

  • Shipped orders will be shipped via insured carriers, and you will receive tracking information once your order is on the way.

  • Local pickup may be arranged upon request

Agreement

By placing a custom order, you acknowledge and agree to the conditions outlined in this policy.

Knitwear and Fiber Art

Each knitwear piece at Chou is crafted with intention — designed, knit, and finished by hand in our studio. Because of the time and care involved, we ask that you review the following policy before placing a custom order.

Production Timeline

• Custom knitwear requires 4–6 weeks for production, depending on the complexity and yarn availability.
• Larger garments or pieces with intricate detailing may take longer.
• We will provide you with an estimated delivery window at the time of order confirmation.
• Please note: timelines may shift slightly due to studio workload or material delays. Any changes will be communicated directly.

Design Approval & Customization

• All custom requests begin with a conversation — we’ll align on color, sizing, silhouette, and detailing.
• For fully bespoke designs, a sketch or digital reference will be sent for approval.
• Once the design is approved and materials are sourced, no changes can be made without extending the timeline and adjusting the cost.

Sizing & Fit

• Knitwear has natural give, but it’s important to choose your size carefully. We will work with your measurements to ensure the best fit possible.
• We are happy to offer guidance before production begins, but we do not accept returns or exchanges for fit once the piece is completed.

 Yarn & Texture Variations

• We work with a curated selection of high-quality yarns, including deadstock, natural fibers, and small-batch dyed materials.
• Slight color or texture variations may occur and are part of the handmade process — not considered defects.

Returns, Exchanges & Cancellations

• All custom knitwear is final sale.
• We do not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations once production has begun, as each piece is made specifically for you and cannot be resold.

 Repairs & Adjustments

If there’s an issue with the construction or finish of your piece, please reach out within 5 days of delivery. We are happy to assess and discuss minor repairs or adjustments if possible.

Payment & Deposits

• Full payment is required at the time of order confirmation.
• This payment secures your spot in our production queue and allows us to begin sourcing materials.

By placing a custom order, you acknowledge and agree to the terms above. We’re honored to make something just for you — thank you for supporting small-scale, slow fashion.
